GL-BE9300 Flint the alternative router with openwrt for greater privacy

The Router with the Most Privacy and Security

The GL-BE9300 Router from GL.iNet is a router with multiple features in terms of privacy and security. It includes some truly interesting functions such as the ability to set up a VPN and thus encrypt internet traffic, but it also has other interesting features like an integrated ADblocker, ADGuardHome, which we can enable and, through IP lists, allows us to filter malicious traffic or, for example, block internet services like Twitter, Facebook, TikTok for a certain period of time or entirely.

Thanks to ADguard we can filter malicious or unsuitable content for our children, for example. Needless to say, this feature is not present in any of the routers that our connectivity providers give us to access the service (Intentionally).

In some cases, such as with Fastweb, it is not even possible to change the DNS from the router but only from the individual host, and so we are forced to use their DNS which track our every connection.

The Gl-BE9300 or simply Flint 3, on the other hand, not only allows you to change the DNS but also to filter with ADGuard, a significant step forward in terms of security.

Another peculiarity is the granularity of the integrated parental control and the possibility to access home devices through the WireGuard server, which is very easy to configure and manage.

Other features that make it very appealing are the tri-band WIFI 7 (although I advise against using it due to its impact on health) and the 5 ports at 2.5 gigabits.

If all this were not enough, the router has OpenWRT under the hood, an open operating system for home routers and more. In short, there are many features and the price is not that high considering how many things you can do with it. More renowned routers cost just as much but lack many of the features of this product.

The price is around 200 euros, although I got it on Amazon on sale for 187.
